Yes, this is another one of these threads.

I've been stuck between these two choices for the past few weeks, and I really need to make a decision tomorrow. These schools are two VERY different schools; one a large public university and the other a small, private, liberal arts college. In terms of my major (English) both have roughly equal reputations, but the only thing I'm worried about is the opportunities at each college, like internships, interaction with professors, etc.

Which college would be the better choice if I wanted to go to grad school afterwards? Also, is Vassar really as "isolated" as it sounds? Will there be things to do during the week?

I visited Vassar over spring break and it's SUCH a beautiful campus. The students seemed really eager about their school too.

Thanks for the input guys! (:

i would definitely say vassar.
why?

1.Not a lecture class school.small classes makes it easier to participate and get to know your professor real well. IN TURN you’ll get great letters of recom.

2.Vassar has an amazing acceptance for graduate schooling.
law schools accpetance-88%
med schools-85%
I hear that students who keep up in Vassar also get accpeted into PROMINANT graduate schools like harvard, duke, columbia, dartmouth, yale, etc.

3.BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS
4.Great entertainment.
5.It seems isloated…however my cousin told me that mostly everyone is always busy doing something on the weekends.

VASSAR!
Berkely is great too, but I would definitely say vassar

Hey, I’ve faced the same situation this year and I’ve chosen Vassar in the end.
Mostly it’s the great scholarship Vassar offers… Ah, is the tuition a part of your consideration?
Also since the campus is smaller students and teachers really tend to get along there and by now I haven’t heard of word of dissatisfaction from the students there.

Anyway the choice is still up to you. UCB offers you a great amount of diversity and opportunity and you can find anything you’d want to try out for there. The atomsphere is also more tense and more people tend to compete for better grades~ But less bonding between professor and students. Vassar provides a more laid-back feeling and students there are as friendly as you can imagine. Teachers even resides in the same hall with students so almost everyone gets a chance to know each other. Though of course there are slightly less kinds of classes and stuff.

Majors are also one of your considerations–Vassar is more artsy, while UCB stands way out in Engineering. So pick what you’d like and hold on~

Believe me you can’t go wrong with either^^

Haha yeah I’m actually getting much more financial aid from Vassar (we only have to pay 1k a year) while Berkeley is 15k :(

yeah and let that be a factor~ Wow you live in california?? Only 15k for tuition, that’s cheap enough…
Then will we be schoolmates next year^^ ~?

Did you post this on the Berkeley forum too? I mean, you posted this on a Vassar forum, so you knew what answers you would get here. Maybe you are already leaning towards Vassar and you want to get answers that affirm what you think Obviously both are great schools, so you can’t go wrong with either of the choices.

@sexycani: I originally posted this on the Berkeley forum but no one replied (probably because they didn’t know what school Vassar was… haha. It is a GREAT school though!)

In the end, I chose Berkeley. It was so hard to decide between the two, and I really would’ve been happy at either one. But something about Cal drew me to it. I know that the competition will be tough, but I’m determined to succeed.

I was really sad to reject Vassar though, along with the amazing financial aid they were giving me. At first I had no clue what Vassar was, but it is an awesome school (:

@as.if.i.cared: I’m sorry we can’t be future schoolmates, but thank you for your input!

And thanks to FuturDoc12 too.
