Vegetarians at UNC

I've been a vegetarian for a number of years now and was wondering if anyone could share some input on the options avaiblable to vegetarians in the dining halls and perhaps on franklin street as well. i know UNC seems to cater to most any needs, but i just wanted to verify that all us non meat eaters dont feel too restricted with whats offered.
i''d appreciate any input!!

I'm a vegetarian. :)

You will have no trouble here. Lenoir's vegetarian food in my opinion is the bomb. They're always trying out new things... like this week they had this weird chick pea dish with rice and I loved it. On Tuesday they had a forum that I couldn't go to but appreciated they had it, specifically for vegetarians to let the dining hall know what sorts of things we like to eat. I'll probably have my meal plan for longer than my friends because I'm so happy with Lenoir's food when it comes to their vegetarian stuff. I'm trying to think of other common foods they have... lots of beans, tofu, vegetable dishes... there's always vegetarian pasta available. I'm one of those vegetarians who gets miffed when restaurants point to their salad and pasta section when you ask them what options they have, though, so I never really go to the pasta area.

As for Franklin, except for McAllister's wimpy vegetable sandwich, most places have good hearty vegetarian stuff for you.

thanks cloying, you are beyonddd helpful! =]

The dining halls are great as cloying said, and Franklin Street also has tons of options.

There's even a student group that serves free vegetarian dinners most Thursdays from 5:30-7pm on the Upper Quad on Franklin (across from Post Office).
