Vermont Students?

Hi- I've been reading through some of the class of 2018 decision posts and noticed that I hadn't seen anyone from Vermont (where I'm from). I know there have got to be some out there considering Stanford's freshman class almost always has students from all 50 states, so are there any Stanford students out there from Vermont or who know students from Vermont and/or know how many there might be?

We had an excel file in the class of 2018 facebook page where everyone put down their name and state. Only one person wrote that he was from Vermont. There are probably more than just one admitted/matriculated vermont students here, but it does seem like there are not many.

@guccigirl‌, thanks for responding! I figured there couldn’t be a ton of people considering it’s a small state and far away.

@guccigirl‌ do you know how many were from Massachusetts?

I should add that statistically a little less than 50% of the facebook reported on the excel file. So you can sorta double the reported number.

@heldenleben‌ Even without checking I can tell you there are a decent number of Massachusetts kids. I’ve met quite a few already. In the excel file there are 14… but I’m sure there are much more.

Thanks @guccigirl‌! I was concerned that being on the opposite coast would negatively impact me, since there are so many CA admits.

@heldenleben‌ I feel you, I’m from New Jersey, but I guarantee you that there is no disadvantage it all balances out. Yes, there are more CA admits, but there are also more CA applicants. Being from the opposite coast in a way is an advantage, because they want geographical diversity. So fewer admits from the East coast basically balances it out evenly.

If it helps you out at all, I’m a freshman here and I’ve met several students from Vermont that are in the class of 2018

@hopefullyhopeles thanks for letting me know! I’m confused whether being from far away is a disadvantage or an advantage because of the whole geographic diversity thing. I asked my guidance counselor how long it’s been since anyone from my school went to Stanford and she said a few have gone but it’s been like 10 years… although I don’t know if many have applied.
