VERY IMPORTANT - for those that have NOT gotten coming days status!!!!!!

My daughter received her coming days status yesterday morning and was very excited to still have the University Park picture and information. However, she started freaking out last night, because as she was checking her status page again, she scrolled down past the University Park photo and info and saw a box underneath it that said:

"Penn State Campuses
With twenty undergraduate campuses across Pennsylvania, Penn State offers flexibility in planning your education.

Nearly 60 percent of all first-year students at Penn State start at a campus other than University Park, then complete their degree at UP. We call it 2+2.

Getting started at a Penn State campus has many great advantages: small classes, a close-knit learning environment, activities, athletics, student organizations, faculty who are experts in their chosen fields, and cost savings.

Get to know our campuses by visiting our Penn State Campuses page.

It is important to remember that, no matter where you start your Penn State experience, every campus offers the same high-quality education that has earned Penn State its reputation as a respected university."

She does not know if that message was there before because she said she never really looked much beyond the status. She thinks this is what they are using now instead of the picture change. I have a sad feeling that she is probably right. Does anyone else have this box below the UP information? She should hear in a few days.

She did not apply to a branch campus, only summer. However, from what I understand, PSU doesn’t reject anyone, they just send them to a branch.

I’m starting to get the feeling that if you don’t apply for summer you won’t get in…and I can’t do summer.

@ blue hen, i kinda doubt that message means she got accepted to a branch. im not saying it isn’t a possibility, but i don’t think the message means that. It sounds familiar, like something they put on your FPS page before you’ve sent in an application/specified a college on your application or something. it sounds like its just general information about all the colleges, and that’s probably what it switches to after you’ve gone through the app. process. Just my opinion though.

Bluehen - I just looked again (because of course I already checked this morning and no change) - my DD’s status still says when one is made, w pic of UP, and then underneath it has a box that has facts about UP. Not sure if it ever changes from that box, never noticed.

Momofa12…I can’t believe your daughter has not had a status change yet. It must be beyond frustrating! My dd applied the first week of September but she is so anxious that she is going to be sent to a branch.

It must be difficult to even keep your daughter interested after all of this. Please keep us updated- they will definitely change her status by 1/31

Oh beyond frustrating is right. I know she still wants to know the answer, but after the warm reception she has received from CofC and JMU, she is feeling a bit cold about this one now (which of course was initially her first choice). Funny thing is that she was talking to her GC yesterday and the GC said something about PSU. When D said she had not heard yet, the GC was like - well that’s crazy! But she also said most of our students have applied arts&sciences or eng. so she was unsure of the H&HD college. She said she would try to look into it today.

Let us know when you hear - I assume you should get something in the mail in the next day or two.

Momofa12 & BlueHen89 - I swear we are living the same nightmare… D got the status change yesterday morning, but no mail yet. I don’t think anything really changed on the status page other than the ‘coming days’, the pic didn’t change, and I think it always said something about the branches and options, just not sure.
She is also leaning towards JMU at this point and we’ll be waiting to hear from UDel in March. It is such a shame because PSU was high on her list, always has been since she was little, but she is feeling much the same - that the ‘shine’ has worn off. She did apply undecided (because she truly is… ) and checked summer session. Three of her cousins are alum, which of course doesn’t count as ‘legacy’, but all three told her the fact that she didn’t apply to a school per se, could be the delay. They seem to fill up the schools/majors first, then get to the undecided. I am just bracing for the branch letter at this point now that we’ve heard so many from her school have already been accepted to UP. Her stats are not awful either, certainly not equal to those from her school who were accepted back in Nov., but definitely within the ranges… well, going to make myself crazy till we know, hopefully today or tomorrow. She’ll be camped by the mailbox as soon as she gets home today waiting… and waiting… Really hoping we all get good news this week, it’s been agonizing!

My son applied Sept 1st- Smeal Summer.

Smeal-UP class of 2016!!!

GPA 3.4 U/W ACT 29 OOS

Summer
Visually impaired

Got coming days last Friday and pic stayed UP. Have not received letter yet but acceptance posted when he checked status this morning:

“Congratulations on you acceptance to Penn State! I am pleased to offer you admission to the Smeal College of Business for Summer 2012 at Penn State University Park…”

It has been a long wait and I feel your pain. My son was on the bubble and it appears to me that those are the applicants who hear last. I am guessing if you’re on the bubble and there is still room for class of 2016 in your major at UP - you get in. Good luck to all…particularly those that waited as long as my son did. While I have not posted much, I have followed all of you with interest. Hang in there everyone! Many universities don’t respond till April 1.

Pups - funny - my D also applied to Udel. Seems to be a big crossover app pool between udel, psu, and JMU. We are heading down to Choices at JMU on 2.20, and from what she sounds like these days, I suspect she will want to deposit. Hate that UDel is so late. Unsure whether mine will want to wait.

for anyone still waiting do not lose all hope. I got accepted to smeal yesterday. It was also for the fall session even though I said I’d be willing to go summer. So just because it is late does not mean your rejected or your for sure going summer if get into University Park

Congratz to everyone who got in! I’m still quite shocked that I was accepted into UPark. Anyways, good luck to everyone and for those of you who are still waiting, good news will come your way! :)

Got my acceptance letter today in the mail…have hope

I did not apply to the summer thing ad I got in, but getting in is not the problem, with the max amount psi gives out in aid (even including the 3000$ from shc) you would still have to come up with 26k. So if you took a lone you would be 100k in debt. Being oos is a very bad idea. But I am willing to go in debt if I get into shc, otherwise it is old queen rutgers for me. I wold be only 9k in debt per year there. So not getting in is not such a bad thing for oos students.

Sorry about the spelling, I was using an iPod which tries to correct every thing.
