Did anyone else take A LOT of risks in their UChicago essay?

Also, is anyone (especially admitted students) willing to read mine and tell me your thoughts?

Nothing is too risky for Uchicago (at least thats what I’ve heard). Mine are a little out there as well, but they want to know how you think

lol i wrote one about Gucci Mane and the other about the Summer of Lebron. Talk about risk

Which topic did all of you choose?

Anonymous1993- I created my own topic

SarahLiz – nice! I did, too, back in the day. Do you feel good about it? That’s the most important thing.

arkleseizure- I feel pretty solid about it. Again, definitely A LOT of risks and it was pretty lengthy (1600), but overall I’m proud of it. I’ve already submitted, but would you be willing to skim it and tell me what you think of it?

SarahLiz, both my kids wrote Chicago essays in the 1300-1600 word range. Given the approach each took to writing it, the essay just didn’t “sing” when it was shorter. (Both tried to cut it down for other applications. DID NOT WORK.)

Risky, personal and meaningful = good work!
