Very Small Town, Looking to Go Big; Chances?

I am about to become a high school senior at my tiny high school of about 400 people, 100 to a class. I thought I would have good chances at colleges (specifically, theatre programs) but looking at all these posts, I’ve becom pretty disheartened. Care to help me figure out my chances here? Keep in mind, I want to go somewhere East Coast, theatre based, and I want to apply to at least one Ivy League school- I know it’s hard to judge theatre things with grades, but I just need help lol. Also, my school offers no AP or IB classes, just dual enrollment.

GPA- 4.08
New SAT- Overall 1340;
New SAT Reading- 720
New SAT Math- 620

I have been in choir and band now since 7th grade, and I have been Drum Major of our school’s marching band for a year, heading into my second. I have done around 11 plays, not just at my school, but at community playhouses around the area. I was, at one point, involved in an advanced English program at Western Michigan University in 8th grade when I started high school level English, and I have taken classes at 2 other colleges in my area.

I am currently involved in NHS, I went to Michigan State University for Drum Major camp 2 times, I am the captain of our small quiz bowl team, a featured soloist time after time in our choir.

That’s all I can think of for now. Any opinion helps, thank you in advance!

Reading CC can make anybody feel as if they will never get into any college. So take everything here with a grain of salt and stay away from the “chance me” threads. IMO, I don’t think your small town and small high school class will keep you from college admissions. Ivies - well they are a crap shoot as it is. Don’t get too caught up in the “Ivy Dream.” (highly overrated IMO) Focus on a variety of schools that would be a good fit for you and that you could see yourself at. Colleges want to create a diversified class. Of course they are going to need somebody from a super small town - you! Your SAT scores are good - there are many wonderful colleges which you are competitive for.

Bluntly – your math SAT will keep you out of Ivies, and a lot of other top schools. But there are very good schools that will work for you.

You might run the net price calculator at Muhlenberg (on the college website, tells you what it might cost to attend). Also go to this forum for suggestions on schools and tips for getting into theater programs:

But remember to check net price calculators on every school before you get too excited about it.
