I am pretty stressed out as I will be applying to US universities later this year. Anyone knows how to beat stress ? [-O<
Are you stressed out over the whole process or are you able to narrow down a particular area?
Not sure how much you have done towards “the process”. Meaning things like:
- discuss with family how to pay for college. Include known costs and extra like travel, spending money etc.
- researched schools that have your major.
- size, location, weather, political stance, religious based, specialty food availability in dining halls that you want
- know your test scores.
Make a chart or write down your ideas while you are researching so you don’t have to keep everything in your head. It will help you track your progress and be able to show others your ideas/goals. (As a parent it is very frustrating when kids spend time researching colleges but insist they don’t have to write things down. Then a question is asked about a school and the child doesn’t remember or didn’t look that info up.) You could also have a separate personal diary or notebook where you could doodle, write feelings, notes to future self, color, set personal health goals (like exercise, sports, eat better etc). Talking with friends or someone you can talk to can reduce stress.
Another option is to search the internet for general stress relieving activities or calming scents.
The more I know and the more I do, the less stressed I feel. I would suggest doing some research to find out exactly what you need to do to apply to US colleges and universities (I’m guessing you’ll be doing so as an international student based on your wording), and then doing it.
Also, hard exercise helps releasing stress, as well as getting enough sleep, eating healthy, and not overworking yourself.
Best of luck!
I reduced stress by forgetting about what I can’t control. Remember the birds of the air. I do my best and then let the chips fall. I am then prepared to rejoice, try again, move on, whatever is was an appropriate response for me after a decision is made. There are times when stress can be overwhelming. I then ask myself what was the earth-shaking stress I faced last year. Can’t remember. I resist going to what ifs until I stop. Are you worried about X I got this question about university tenure lots. Hadn’t even thought about it in a long time. It doesn’t mean I don’t care, but I remind myself that I have done what I needed to do and life goes on happily whatever the outcome.
