Vet Med at UK schools or UC Dublin?

My D23 is very interested in Hartpury Uni in Gloucester for their equine courses and we’ll be visiting next month when we’re there for vacation. I think I have a grasp on the UCAS admission process thanks to posts here (looking at you @collegemom3717). But she then discovered the 5 year vet med programs. Has anyone applied for that program? I know they are highly competitive and it is a LONG shot for my kid. The fact that these applications close in Sept make it an even longer shot as she will be taking the required AP courses next fall so she’ll have only one month of the class under her belt when she asks her teacher for the predictions. (She did a quick pivot on her senior schedule when she discovered this program!) Is it even worth pursuing? She’s on the fence about vet med, mainly because she doesn’t want to go to school for 7 or 8 years. If she can do it in 5, she’s interested. (But I’m afraid she’ll see the equestrian facilities at Hartpury and her mind will be made up!)

And if I understand it correctly, the application for the UK vet med programs is the same as the US vet med schools (VMCAS). That just seems odd since the US system assumes an undergraduate degree. UC Dublin does give you the choice of the VMCAS app or theirs. Makes me think it is really difficult for a US high schooler to get in.
