There is a wonderful video about Olin entitled "Leading the Way," which was created by an Olin senior. I'm certain they have shown this video during prospective students visits and will probably show it again during candidate's weekend. It gives you a good feel about what it is like to attend Olin. You might be able to get a copy of it through the admissions office, or possibly through a google search.

I found the video w/ a google search. It would be a good piece to include in admissions packets, maybe on a CD.

We saw an older video during our visit...it seems unlikely to have been created by a senior, unless it was created back when the senior was a freshman?

Could you post the link to the video?

"Leading the Way" is a video created by a student who is currently a senior. I think it was produced this past summer or early fall. The other video that you are referring to, "The Olin Experience," is also an excellent video about the school. It was created last year by the same student and a friend of his while they were juniors. I'm not sure what the policies are on this forum for posting links to copyrighted material, that is why I suggested Google. I have sent you a private message.

would you mind sending it my way too? i dont remember seeing either video.
Im sure I did, but most of my getting in was a blurr.

Conumdrum ~ The video is fabulous. S and I just watched it, and it was so good that S played it again for his grandfather. This is a great improvement over the good but dated one we saw during our visit. It seemed "authentic" more than slick, probably because it was made by a student and spoke form the heart.

Ahh, Olin Rising. Seen that one about 5 times myself.

I had forgotten about the "Olin Rising" video. I think that is one that was produced by the administration very early on. It is a shame that they aren't showing either of the other two videos to students who are visiting campus. The "Olin Experience" video that we saw during candidate's weekend was one of the things that sold us on Olin, because our main concern was, "What is it really like to attend Olin?" I agree with chrisd that the "Leading the Way" video would make an excellent addition to the admission's packet. Some of the other colleges my son applied to had recruitment CD's that were mailed with admissions information. Frankly, Olin was about the third or fourth school on his list until we visited on Candidate's Weekend, because we really didn't know much about the school. Once he saw how amazing the professors and students were firsthand, Olin became his number one choice. I think the video would have conveyed alot of what you experience when you are actually on campus.

Well, they might still be using Olin Rising because it covers the historical aspect of F.W. Olin and the Foundation a little better. Maybe they're using Olin Rising for visits and the newer videos for CWE?

can anybody tell me about the source of the video?
I searched the video through google, yet I found none.

It seems the videos have been taken off the internet. I have contacted the school about access to these videos, and will update this information once I receive it.

Hello All,
As one of the co-producers of The Olin Experience and a consultant for Leading The Way, I can chime in a little with what I know. Both Olin Rising (admin-made in May 2003) and The Olin Experience (student-made in Jan/Feb 2005) have been shown to all candidates at the last two years of Candidates Weekend. Leading The Way (student-made) was finished during Fall 2005, but was not shown during the Candidates Weekend.

Leading The Way combines elements from both of the previous videos, while being able to stand on its own. The reason it was not shown at the most recent Candidates Weekend was that the Admission Office wanted to have an informative video about Olin in the beginning (Olin Rising) and then a video that really connects with the candidates (The Olin Experience) at the end of the weekend. Simply showing Leading The Way would accomplish both, but you wouldn't show it at both the beginning and end of the weekend, and since it overlaps content, wouldn't make since to show in tandem with one of the others.

Hopefully, the Admission Office can figure out a good resolution to this. I do know that they have been showing Leading The Way to any prospective students who visit the Office of Admission.
