VILLANOVA CLASS OF 2019 - EA DECISIONS

Does your friend know anything about these financial aid emails and why some people got invited to a workshop and others didn’t?

Someone on another thread mentioned that in addition to being invited to a financial aid workshop, they have also just been assigned a Villanova ID number on their portal.

But hasn’t that ID number been there all along?

I’m nearly positive that the ID number has always been there. I think they were assigned that once their application was received. We have it.

my dad has been through the college process a few times before and he said the workshop is most likely only for students who qualify for need-based financial aid? Just an idea

That makes sense but at least two people got it that are not applying for aid. I am not sure it means anything and maybe is somewhat random, but still kind of weird that they didn’t invite everyone.

That is strange. But I don’t know if they would invite everyone who got in and needed financial aid to a workshop, that just doesn’t make sense to me because there would be so many kids. Just hoping for the best because I didn’t get a workshop invite

Personally, I got the invite and I am not applying for financial aid nor do I qualify. I honestly just think it was random and it probably has nothing to do with who got in and who didn’t.

In regards to the 2 emails sent out…does it make sense that they would email based of location? It is possible that only near by students were sent the invite to come to campus @ Conley Center

@calimommy222‌ I got the invite but someone else from my school didn’t so it can’t be based on location :/

Any idea how you compare as candidates? Would you be the stronger applicant? That might be more of a clue.

Has anyone tried calling the admission office and asking? I tried to call for a while yesterday but the line was constantly busy.

I tried calling also, but the line was still busy

I still think that there was a meaning to the email which is upsetting for my son. The one we got said…this email is being sent to all applicants…the second one-that we didn’t get, was a specific invite…they would have no way of knowing at this point who actually qualifies for financial aid. Perhaps it was sent to those very strong applicants that they really really want??? i guess we will all know soon enough.

@collegemomjam‌ we have pretty equal stats. I don’t see why I would get in and she wouldn’t so I’m a little confused.

xxnataliexx and cbpmom In the case of my daughter, and she didn’t get the letter, she has over a 0.5 higher gpa and 4 points higher on the ACT than the other student that got the letter. The only hook the other student has is her sibling goes there, but her stats are low for EA. This is why I’m thinking it may not mean anything, but it really is driving us bonkers as well. If someone gets through to admissions, please post.

One more thing, the workshop is open to anyone. It shows up on the admissions page when you search upcoming events. It doesn’t make it seem exclusive, but still worrisome I guess.

My son is legacy has 2320 on SAT and from catholic high. He did not get the workshop email

Wow! Those are impressive stats! Thanks for sharing that, it does make us feel a little better! Good luck to your son!

I think the logical explanation is that Villanova does not reject anyone through early action so it is safe to offer a financial workshop to certain eligible candidates because even if they get deferred it would still be a helpful workshop. Therefore I am convinced it has no bearing on an admission decision - I don’t think a seasoned admissions office would be that transparent.
