VILLANOVA CLASS OF 2019 - EA DECISIONS

The financial aid email was sent to me at 10;34pm last night, btw

@collegemomjam the financial aid workshop one went out at 8:07pm last night and the other regarding financial aid instructions was 10:34pm as tallmac states above. Like I mentioned neither says anything about being accepted or are addressed to accepted students so no need to panic just yet. I’m sure we will hear something very soon. Here’s the workshop one:

You are cordially invited to attend the Villanova University Financial Assistance Workshop.

At Villanova, we are committed to providing the financial assistance needed to supplement a family’s contribution so that academically talented students can join our distinctive community.

Please join us on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:00 am in the Cinema of the Connelly Center to learn about our need-based financial assistance process and the opportunities provided through federal, state, University, and private sources. The financial assistance presentation will be followed by a campus tour.

We look forward to you visiting Villanova!

One would think that Nova has a list of who stated on the college app that they would be needing finacial aid and only send the emails to those people. I indicated “no” to financial aid and still got the email. Logic out the window.

p.s. and when I hit the link it takes me to a very generalized form asking for all the info I put in when we scheduled a college tour such as high school and complete info. Nothing in the link says anything about accepted. Here it is…

Thanks Mamahills. TallMac, what addition are you talking about, the place on the portal to withdraw application? My daughter got that one but no financial aid emails.

My S got financial aid email yesterday in the morning. Not at 10:43. And he didn’t get the workshop invite. I’m not sure if there’s any rhyme or reason to these emails. We’re trying not to worry just yet.

Found one of the financial aid emails in my daughter’s spam folder! Oops! There were a bunch of emails in there from a lot of colleges! I have to remind her to check! So now I am convinced the financial aid letter doesn’t mean much. Another girl from our town also got them. Seems like everyone is getting them. Ours was from 10:23 AM yesterday.

my son also got the financial aid info email but not the invite to the workshop. He also got it yesterday in the morning. Maybe those with general ones are getting deferred and those with actual invites are accepted…just a thought…no basis for the idea though!!

Someone mentioned being invited to an “admissions” workshop but I think it was actually a “financial aid” workshop. Unless there’s now a third mystery email. Lol.

My invitation to the workshop email was also in my junk folder…for those who haven’t received it, have a look in there!

The focus of the workshop seems to be need based but doesn’t seem like you had to say you were applying for aid.

Those who were invited to the workshop, do you live fairly close to Villanova?

We know a person in our town who got both the generic and the workshop invite who frankly, would surprise me to get in EA over my daughter just because her GPA and scores are significantly lower. But she has a sibling there so that could be why I guess. Still seems strange.

Just called nova admissions and they didn’t give me an exact date but said end of this week. They said definitely not today and it’s very unlikely on Wednesday so I’m thinking thursday?

Was anybody invited to the workshop that does not live near Villanova?

The person I know lives about 90 minutes away, not sure if that is considered “near”.

I was invited and live 100 miles away

I was invited and I am international.

@kaynicholette same thing happend to me with my ED. I know it’s upsetting now but you’ll definitely end up at the best place for you. I love basically everything about Villanova, from the culture to the classes (I’m in VSB) to my dorm (definitely varies depending on which dorm you’re in), the basketball games, campus, the special Olympics weekend, and the fact that we get a week long fall break, but my favorite thing is the people because everyone is so driven, smart and accomplished and very community-oriented.

****I know you are all nervously checking your portals every hour, but I am a freshman at Villanova and my friend in the admissions office said that they are aiming to release decisions on Friday, but definitely not before then.
