Villanova or Northeastern?

One thing is clear… people disagree. Probably because the difference between academics at these two schools is modest.

My recommendation is that you make your choice based on a combination of personal preference and cost. You really should not consider which one will “open doors” for you. Only a handful of universities can truly open doors for you: Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Yale, Princeton, and a few more. Actually, it is not the school itself that opens the door, but your own classmates and alumni. Occasionally, in some regions or states, a particular school might help crack open some doors a little. Otherwise, more than 90% of your career is up to you.

Yeah, must posters don’t confuse Northeastern with Northwestern. Maybe a few decades ago that was the case when Northeastern wasn’t as highly regarded. Posters on this forum are pretty knowledgeable about the typical schools being discussed.

Julliet, the popularity of men’s and women’s hockey at Northeastern is certainly on par with the popularity of men’s and women’s basketball at Villanova. Hockey fans at Northeastern are RABID. Northeastern students also support their basketball teams.

As for academics, as someone said earlier, in practical terms these two schools probably aren’t all that different. Although as regards STEM, Northeastern is spending a lot of cash on its engineering and science facilities. Just broke ground on a new building designed by a prestigious architect. Looks like it will be gorgeous. Also, I see that many members of NEU’s engineering faculty earned their doctorates at very highly regarded engineering schools. By the way, Northeastern has attempted to expand national recognition of its “brand” by opening campuses in Seattle and in Silicon Valley. Yeah, I didn’t believe it either when I first heard about it.

Bummmmp???

I’m really in need of advice here lol

@Tyler101296 What type of advice DO you need? You have received a lot of opinions on this thread already.

Now it is up to you to make a decision. No one here can do that for you.
