I read where the average Villanova Scholarship was $5,000 and then I read where the average scholarship at VU was $8,000. Regardless, did many incoming 2014 freshmen get more than these amounts? $10K? $14K?

to my knowledge, the max for the villanova scholarship was 8k.

Gosh, I hate to sound ungrateful, but I just don’t understand what they think $8K does toward a $60,000 bill. They must lose a lot of highly qualified applicants based on their merit aid policies.

You are correct my friend. But they recently realized this and are making an effort to increase the endowment.

Making an effort as in this application season… or they are beefing up their endowment over the next few years and will restructure their scholarships toward the end of the decade?

I read somewhere that the number of scholarship money increased by a few folds over the past few years. They’re still increasing the amount of scholarships and recently announced the campaign to ignite change with a significant amount going to scholarships, As of this posting, they’ve raised about $347 million from alumni donations
