Villanova Visit Shock

Congratulations!!!

hahahhaha!

okay. i do admit that even most the minorities here are white-washed on the inside, but there is “diversity” if your kid looks for it. some kids really don’t care to venture past what they’re used to. you can send your kid to a place as diverse as NYU but if they have no interest in meeting different kinds of people they’re going to end up with the same type of crowds they’ve been exposed to in high school anyway so it’s ridiculous that anyone would write it off without knowing if the individual is even going to attempt to obtain a “diverse” group of friends. now, there’s no denying the majority of kids likely coming from a life of suburbia… it was all a matter of preference for me. it’s safe, with a similar makeup of races as the place i call home and i felt comfortable here… you will see kids driving around in fancy cars and walking around with fancy bags ETC. but you will also see kids who aren’t… there’s no pressure to become a walking clone of the average preppy kid if that’s your worry. if anything, you’ll appreciate coming from a different background if that’s not your scene and you’ll make some nice privileged friends which isn’t really a bad thing…

YOU DID NOT JUST CALL THE MAIN LINE LAME!!! As a high school student living on the Main Line, trust me you have no idea what you are talking about. There is plenty to do, you are just very unfamiliar.

i LOVE the mainline & i dont even live there. the nova area/surroundings are awesome

I have lived on it all of my life, and I must say until I was about a sophomore in high school (currently a senior) I always thought it was kind of boring, then I realized how much it offers and it truly is an awesome place to live. I am not a large Villanova fan, but I really hate when people insult the town. They don’t know it and had they spent like a week there they would really learn to love and appreciate all it has. It is so much fun.

the main line, while not a typical college town atmosphere i grant you, still offers a ton of opportunites to go have a good time if you know where to go

I am still really insulted the OP called it lame, you don’t see me making fun of their hometown.

clfdwlr if your not a fan of nova, where ya headed to?

I am going to Purdue, I know, it is completely different atmosphere than the Main Line, but I liked it a lot and it has a great engineering program.

hope you like dudes…haha just kidding

Hahaha it’s okay, it is pretty much the truth. The few women they do have are fine though.

cwjthree–

I have had children attend Brown University, University of Richmond, and Villanova.

I favor Villanova.

Villanova offers a culture, school spirit, and special campus community that makes the students and its alums passionate.

Your son is a good student as evidenced by the fact that Villanova offered him admission. I assure you however that there are many- many very good students at Villanova. Villanova will survive without your son.

I suggest that you withdraw from your son’s school selection process and let him chose what school he will attend.

If your son feels more comfortable at Boston College, Wake Forest or Tulane then he should attend one of those schools rather than Villanova.

Good luck.

A few thoughts…

You will not find the ONE perfect school for your son, it is a give and take. Find one that he likes (the one that makes HIM happy) and move on. I agree with many of your comments, but my daughter is a freshman in Engineering at Nova - she loves it. I, on the otherhand, might have selected another school for myself. She had $$ from other great schools, she liked Nova, and there you have it.

soooo…how was everyone’s candidate’s day visit?

I was just wondering if you and your son had attended a Destination Tulane. I feel you owe it to yourself to get a good comparison. We were lucky enough to have Tulane’s President Cowen speak to all of us and answer questions. I find it amazing that no administrator at Villanova could do the same.

candidate’s day was pretty sweet 1390hopeful… were you one of the blue key kids by any chance?! not sure ive EVER seen that much enthusiasm haha but i was loving it. all around great day… or at least for the business school students!! :)

haha jerseyt, please dont lump me in with those blue key kids haha…i have quite a few good friends in bk, including one of my roommates, but yeah, they’re really enthusiastic for villanova, and i think thats putting it lightly…pm me if you have any burning questions you need answered if you want

im not, no worries… just curious! & will do !!

LOL 1390hopefull blue key kids would live at villanova forever if they could… jerseyT i’m glad you liked it! good job being here for candidates day. i just had some parents come up to me and comment how our school is much more welcoming than BC was for their kid. hopefully all you undecided folks feel the same way between your other schools. nursing kids are here today; maybe i’ll see some of you! :)

Nursing students today? we were there last week,is this another Open House for admitted nursing students? FWIW, we loved it and happy with our D’s decision to attend
