Villanova vs Tulane?

Any thoughts?

nova… tulane might not totally be out of the aftermath of that natural disaster…

Wonder what response you’ll get on the Tulane forum? Tulane fortunately had relatively little physical damage from Katrina, and NOLA has recovered well from the storm. Still work to do, but not likely in areas you’d be frequenting, unless you are doing community service and helping with rebuilding efforts. The school of architecture has been involved in some design and reconstruction-- a great opportunity for the students.

Tulane is completely recovered from Katrina. As jym says the damage to the uptown area where Tulane is was comparitively light. There are other areas miles from Tulane (obviously the 9th ward being one of them) that are still in bad shape. But if you just woke up from a coma knowing nothing about Katrina and walked around the Tulane campus and surrounding area, you would never know a hurricane and flood had occured.

So to the OP’s question, I’ll just repeat what I said on the Tulane thread to the same question.

Sometimes these comparisons make sense. But sometimes the answer is there is no answer, except what you think. Tulane has somewhat higher average SAT scores, but not that much. Villanova is slightly larger, but not that much. New Orleans is a nicer place to go to school, but… Well OK, on that one Tulane wins hands down.

Hopefully you have had a chance to visit both and sit in on some classes, try the food, and see the dorms. Because between these two schools from what I know (and I don’t know a ton about Villanova, for sure) they compare pretty closely. Are their financials similar? Because unless you can come up with some factor that really favors one over the other, this looks like a gut decision to me. Maybe someone that knows more about Villanova while also knowing Tulane can help more.

The nice thing is, you can’t go wrong. Wish all decisions were like that.

definitely visit both before deciding…the schools have some differences, but a visit will probably clear that up for you…ive been to tulane to visit and it was in a very nice area…either way, you will most likely be satisfied with your decision
