Violinists Only: Discuss violin stuff

<p>How much do you guys practice? Current song? Has school work stopped you from practicing enough? Which song do you hate? Like? Wish you could play? </p>

<p>Currently playing zirgeunerweisen by sarasate. Like it a lot, and just dropped introduction and rondo cappricioso by saint saens (too hard to make it sound distinguishable). Practice like 2 hours in the summer per day. School year probably 1 hour :(. Wish I could get 3 hours in, but I have too much to do and I'm not very efficient (kind of lazy).</p>

<p>Yesterday my g string popped. it’s because I tried this really fast fingering that my violin teacher taught me.</p>

I play viola now. I did do a violin grade 5 exam when I was 12 (I think).</p>

<p>So where do y’all play? I’m in my school orchestra and a string quartet, I used to be in another orchestra out of school but then I quit because I didn’t want to do music all Saturday morning.</p>

<p>Are you from New York? Are you referring to the NYSSMA exam? I took those too. </p>

<p>I’m in school orchestra and an orchestra for philly. Trying out for philadelphia sinfonia on the 4th of september.</p>

<p>I’ve been playing the violin for around two months but I’ve progressed fairly quickly. I just had my first solo recital yesterday and it was, to say the least, disastrous. Live and learn, and all of that. They were simple pieces (Elgar’s Six Very Easy Pieces, Allegro/Andante) but the stage fright really got to me and I screwed up a lot.</p>

<p>Anyone else ever have a semi nervous breakdown on stage? Ha ha.</p>

<p>I used to play violin, but formally quit lessons in 6th grade. now I just play in the school orchestra. it’s amazing how I’m still 2nd chair :D</p>

<p>nervous breakdowns in auditions, all the time. the adrenaline screws me up. I hate it :(</p>
