<p>It’s always smart to write the optional essays. If you have the time to do it, then do it.</p>

<p>Yup. Not writing essays makes it look like you either 1) don’t seriously want to be admitted to the college because you weren’t willing to take the time to write an essay for them or 2) are lazy (or maybe a little of both.) Don’t give a college an excuse to think that about you.</p>
