I have been thinking about this for couple weeks now.

Im planning to study electrical engineering and pretty sure VTech is good place for me to go. However, I heard that Electrical Engineer program in VTech is terribly difficult. Umass Amherst is not as good as VTech (for engineer) but I rather go to Umass Amherst with a "B" than go to VTech with a "C". The only thing I worry about is VTech maybe too hard for me ...and i might waste couple semester there (Currently I got about 3.3 GPA, like Math and science subject) I'm also planning to study for graduate school too (at Boston University, maybe). What should I do, please give me your advices, I really need it.

Thank you

edit: you are a transfer student? Disregard my post.

What are the net costs for each school?

@David: yes , i’m a transfer student. The cost of Amherst is a bit higher than VTech…since I’m international student.

You are scaring yourself about the difficulty before you have even taken a class. I sympathize. The 3.3 GPA that you have in Math and Science shouldn’t be compared to the average of US students at VT or any other college for that matter. The grading scales may not be comparable. Did you take the SAT? If so, how did you score in Math?

Perhaps you should operate under the assumption that if a school accepts you, then they are confident about your ability to succeed at their institution. If they are confident, you should be as well.

My daughter is at VT and loves it as do most of the students there. The same cannot be said of UMass. Students and alum like UMass well enough but VT students and alum are passionate about their school.
