Visa problems for Swiss citizen?

Hello!

I am a Swiss citizen, currently in senior year of high school. After graduation, I want to study in the US, and I was already accepted at 9 colleges. As you surely know, an international student has to apply for a F-1 visa for the USA. Now, here's my problem:
I was born and grew up in Switzerland. However, my grandfather was Iranian and so I have Iranian citizenship by birth. On one of the application sheets for the visa, there is a section where they ask you: Which countries have ever issued you a passport? So probably I HAVE to write that I was issued an Iranian passport. As you all know, the USA and Iran are not on good terms, so I am really afraid that they won't give me a visa or delay it and I miss the beginning of my studies. Can I bury my dreams of studying in the USA already?
I would be really sad, because I have worked very hard to get into a college, and I hardly have a relationship to Iran (I am not even Muslim, I am Christian! Neither do I speak Farsi, and I just visited the country for vacation.)

What do you think?
Thank you very much for your opinions!

I would imagine it wouldnt be much of a problem, but why not contact the college which you will be attending – they should help you with this

I don’t think it would be much of a problem, if you do a search(i.e. do a international rep search on a particular college), I am sure you can find quite a number of Iranians (born, raised, Muslim) who are attending colleges in America. Perhaps there will be some minor impediments, but the fact that they got through, indicates some hope for you I guess.

Good luck!
