I don't think so YOU , it just means that you'll have to apply for OPT, I think. But its mandatory that each f1 student gets the time.

The exception is that you only get OPT if you never completed the same type of degree before.

e.g. if you do two Bachelor's or two Master's, you can't get OPT on the second degree.

OPT should be the last thing on the list of worries for someone who got two bachelor's degrees

So how was everyone's visa interviews?
My interview lasted for less than 1 minute...the guy asked me 5 questions
What program are you applying for, what do your parents do, where have you applied, how many acceptances, where did u get accepted ?

When do I have to pay the visa fee, I mean not the SEVIS one, but the MRV? Do I have to do that beforehand or I can do that right before the interview?

I've asked this before but is the middle name necessary on the I-20 form? When filling out Sevis form, it asks for middle name but name also has to match I-20 form exactly. We've asked the school and they said that our form is fine without the middle name. So, do we fill in middle name on sevis or not? passport has middle name, we don't have to apply for visa.

Hi bmom, you can put the middle name on the sevis . I did and had no problems, although my i-20 only had the initial of my middle name .

Lancel-07, the I-20 doesn't even have the initial of the middle name.

bmom : if you have to apply for the visa then why bother?

ajayc, I don't understand what do you mean by "why bother"? we still have to pay SEVIS and we still have to go through immigration at the border. I don't know how strict they are. I've heard that the name has to be exactly as the passport.

btw, I emailed SEVIS and we just have to fill in the name as it is on the I-20.

I read from somewhere that when the consul gives you your passport and visa, there a sealed letter that you have to bring along when you head to the States.. is this true? I didn't get any letter..

I didn't get any neither. Just my passport with visa.

I cannot remember a sealed letter with either my J-1 or my F-1 visa. I did get a sealed letter when I applied for a permanent resident visa though. (And the sealed letter just contained my visa application, nothing exciting.)

@YOU: The letter that you read about is about I-20. I didn't get any envelope or letter since they just stapled mine with my passport (which isn't how it supposed to be..) But everything worked out fine. So, as long as you have your passport, I-20, and visa.. then you should be fine.

thanks everyone..
