Visit/Interview/Tour BY MYSELF.

I am going to visit some colleges!!!!!!!!!!!!

I imagine college tour usually occurs under the presence of parents or some form of guardians?

My parents, however, are out of country currently and will not be able to accompany me!!!

Is it weird if I go on the airplane,
take the bus,
attend info session,
have the interview,
travel halfway across the country all by myself?
Will my interviewer be like, "WHO ARE YOU, WHY AREYOU HERE ALONE??????"

Your interviewer will likely not know you are alone; we never got close to most of our D's interviewers. Your parents may be just strolling the grounds, for all the school knows. No big deal, forget the issue.

I think it's smart to go alone. Your parents won't bother you and their opinions won't get in the way.

Hahahaha, thanks for the great reply, unalove. I agree with you .I was just worried that I might feel too weird walking by myself alone while everyone else brings his or her family in this pack

Many of the students we saw this summer at info sessions and tours did not sit with their parents. I think it was a cool teen issue.
I would not worry about what the school thinks, since I think vossron is right and they will not know.
As a parent, I worry about the practical parts of you touring alone...are you flying alone? renting a car? booking a hotel room? scheduling everything on your own? Do you have your own credit card?

You may well have trouble renting a hotel room at your age. See if the university can put you in touch with a student host, or try every friend-of-a-friend you know to see if someone will put you up for the night. The other alternative is to fly in early and leave in the late afternoon of the same day. Check the college websites about tour reservations, transportation links and assorted freebies, all of which will make your trip easier.

No one will care if you don't have a parent with you. Try to talk to the other applicants and their parents; maybe one will "adopt" you for the day.

The interviewer is likely to be impressed by your maturity and independence. Most students go on college visits with their parents, who take over the tours while the students hang back saying nothing. Someone like you would stand out in a good way.

Some colleges offer tours that include overnight stays for "that colege feel". you could try that. I'm also doing the whole tour thing on my own - it's exciting!:)
