hi!
is there any point at visiting brown during January?
i’m going to be in the area and i realy want to check the place but if everything is closed and no one is there i wonder if there is any point…
what do you say?

If you’re going to be around there is no reason not to walk through, but there will be pretty much nothing going on until Jan 21. Almost definitely there will be no tours or info sessions, no students around, etc, so don’t expect much.

i went during the summer when people were just starting to come back so there really wasn’t a lot of excitement, but i liked seeing what the school looked like. I live close enough that i could have blown it off and gone some other time, but if you live pretty far away you should def do it. (you might even want to anyways just to see if you like how the school looks/its general atmosphere)

it may not be a good idea to base your decision off of me, because I’m a totally loser who like loves the info sessions and tours. :P

It seems that, even though there are not many classes (if any) going on during the month of January, as the above link shows, there are tours and info sessions once each day (except for MLK birthday)-- check the schedules from this link.

I actually think going in the middle of the winter is a great idea. You would be there during this weather, if you are accepted and decide to go, and if New England winter is not your thing, that would be a good thing to know.

If you go, I recommend staying at the Hampton Inn & Suites – they have better prices than most of the downtown hotels (and they have a “Brown students discount” - just ask for it), the place is beautiful, and it’s easy walking distance from Brown – just at the bottom of College Hill.
