Hi Everyone. Brand new here with a Junior. We have actually just started our search because last Fall was dedicated to SAT review courses, and now, during Spring break, the kid is out of the country. So, we’ve only toured one school so far. My ex husband is all about the early decision, so we’re working with a somewhat limited timeframe for figuring out top picks.
Anyway, maybe I’m incompetent with the website, but it doesn’t seem like there are many tours of Cornell going on this Spring, and those that are offered are full. Would you say that, for our first visit, we could tour on our own? Would that give us enough of a flavor of the campus?
I would encourage you to visit Cornell while it is in session. You will get more of school vibe. You can walk about the campus by yourself, stop by the bookstore and have lunch at a cafeteria. I would also encourage you to just stop by the admission office the of or give them a call few days before hand to see if you could join a tour.
Is there someone from your kid’s high school who is attending Cornell now? He/she may be able to give you a private tour.
Oh, that’s a good idea. I don’t know anyone currently on campus, but I can ask around. We would definitely try to get there while school is in session (though we’re heading in to AP Exam study time, and Cornell is a couple hours’ drive), but it seems like there aren’t any tours available at all in the upcoming weeks. Early April is full, and then there are two weeks dedicated to tours for accepted students.
