I got accepted, and I want to attend one of the Cornell Days events (between the 9th and 11th). I am looking at plane tickets right now, and all of the round trip tickets are departing on the 9th and leaving on the 11th. Will the events be the same every single day? Do people stay for more than one day? If they do, where do they stay overnight?

Hey! I am also going the 9th to 11th. Flying in on the 9th, hopefully touring around on the 10th, and leaving at like 1:30 pm on the 11th. Maybe I’ll see you there!

As for your question, I have no idea, but I hope its possible to spend a night in the dorms with a current student.

I wonder what the typical amount of days to stay is. Do parents generally come (not that I would really want them to) if you live somewhat close?

I don’t know what is typical… but my mom is going with me… I have no choice D:

Haha, mine would probably end up going as well. I was just trying to figure out how the sleeping situation would work…

If you can stay with a student, definitely do it. I believe that’s part of the program, but if not, I think you can apply separately to get lodging with a host. I did it in the fall and it was so much fun. If i were you, I’d try and leave my parents at home, especially if you’re gonna be able to stay with a student. Assuming you get a cool one (which is likely, most anti socials won’t sign up to host kids) then you’ll probably get to go to a party. I did because my host was on the football team and had practice the next morning, but I know tons of other kids that did, and many got to engage in activities your parents might recognize the next morning, if you know what I mean.

I would go, but I’ve already been so my parents won’t fly me up there again. haha. I may spend my money on my own plane ticket up there just for the heck of it. lol.

But check it out with the admissions office and see about staying with a student. It’s the bomb. You might also want to check it out, I think it’s called the red carpet society, where it’s like student hosting organization for any time during the year.

If there’s anyway you can, AT ALL, stay with a student.

My parents are overseas at this time, so I will have to go alone anyway haha

If you’re coming for Cornell Days, you can register and request hosting. If you’re parents are coming and you are staying overnight they probably should look into booking hotel rooms.

You can find a complete listing of events on the website, every college has different events going on and there are some university wide things too!

If you have any more questions feel free to let me know!

I don’t know if I can go to it. I got accepted to Swarthmore and their program is on the same 2 days as Cornell and I can’t go on the other Cornell days because I was admitted to the Presidential Research Scholar program which has presentations on the Cornell days of April 16 and 17 only. Which should I pick???

Do you guys think it would be okay if a hs junior came with me?

During the same time period, tours for juniors will still be going on, but the junior and I would be traveling together and would probably go to all the same things.

Basically, is it okay to bring non-admitted students to the Cornell Days events for admitted students?

I don’t see why not. I mean, I don’t know what all is planned exactly, but events specifically for admitted students, I don’t think would be allowed to go with you. At the same time however, I believe I might have read something that said they might not be doing tours/events for anyone but admitted students during those days…

I’d check it out and see, the last thing you want is to spend a bunch of money to get up there and then not be able to do anything.

admitted students absolutely can come stay with a student host for the night. im actually a host lol… should be a fiesta.

Wednesday, April 8th
Thursday, April 9th
Friday, April 10th
Sunday, April 12th
Wednesday, April 15th
Thursday, April 16th
Friday, April 17th
Sunday, April 19th

im pretty sure those are the dates, but i bet if you need a special accommodation that it could prob be worked out. (those dates are straight from the email that i received from the host coordinator)

if you live in nyc, is there any form of public transportation you could take to get upstate to
Cornell?? or if I call cornell, can they get me up there?

oh I really want to go; I just don’t have a method of transportation at the moment

I’m pretty sure there’s a bus, but don’t quote me. I don’t go there (yet).

there is a bus that super easy to take

the shortline leaves from port authority manahattan and drops you off either in collegetown, west campus, or north campus. its very convenient and there are about 8 buses from the city to ithaca and back everyday of the week. (takes approx 4 hrs + a short stop in Binghamton sometimes)
