Visiting Penn in early September, right after classes start?

Would this be a crazy bad time to visit, or might it be ok? My son is enrolled, but taking a gap year. He actually has not visited Penn yet, so we’re trying to find a time that works with my husband’s schedule, and he has vacation the first week in September.

Would that be a bad time to visit? I’m hoping our son can stay on campus with someone.

It would allow us more time to visit, but my husband probably can get a day off in October, as well; it just would be a shorter trip.

I think my son will want to be on campus at least two days so he can have time to see all the dorms, see the departments he’s interested in, and just get a general feel for the college.

Thanks for any advice.

It wouldn’t be a crazy time to visit. It’ll be early enough in the semester that no one will be having any exams yet, so it’s not like you’d be catching students during a stressful time. As far as getting someone to stay with, maybe try reaching out to undergraduate admissions since even though he’s not a prospective student but someone on a gap year, they may be willing to help.

I personally visited Penn in early September and found this to be a great time to visit. Phenomenal weather, students weren’t too busy with classes, etc.

Great! Thanks so much for the positive feedback. We’ll plan our trip for September, then.
