<p>I'm from San Diego and am 100% sure i'll be attending UCSC as a Human Biology major. I am visiting this week from Tuesday to Friday. Anything in particular I should see or visit ? Also , I'm having a hard time figuring out, like most UCSC prospectives, of which of the colleges would best fit me. I seriously don't want to be in a place where I don't have any similar interests with anyone. I guess to describe myself I'd say I love to party but also just chill once in a while, go to the beach, surf, do makeup, run. I'm finding it really hard to figure what place fits me best.</p>

<p>I can’t seem to edit my previous post but be sure to look at the layout of the resident halls. I’d hate to be stuck sharing a bathroom with 30 others. Perhaps you could read the stereotypes of each college and the geographical location as well.</p>
<p>I thought all of their dorms had floors with shared bathrooms and that it was the only option? Eh, I guess I’ll have to wait and see. Super stoked</p>

<p>Yeah, each bathroom WILL be shared by 30+ people. No question about it. The only good news is that you get at least 3 toilets, sinks, and showers. So things aren’t usually crowded. And the janitors do a damn good job keeping it clean.</p>
<p>You’ll find people with your interests everywhere. Stereotypes are stereotypes, but that only means some large portion of the college fits. Not even half oftentimes. Anyhow, you sound like a Cowell/Stevenson/College 8 candidate. </p>
<p>You’re coming at the start of the quarter! That’s the best time to sit in on a class.

Just search for “All Classes” instead of “Open Classes”.</p>
<p>You can usually walk around and enter buildings during the week as long as you don’t act suspicious. Even dorm buildings! Just follow someone in, you’re student-aged so people generally won’t hesitate to hold the door for you. And if you’re going to eat at a dining hall, I suggest Cowell/Stevenson. The cafes are all excellent too.</p>
<p>Man, I’m having a hard time thinking of sights to see around Santa Cruz…I’ll be back to post about that when I remember something. >_<</p>
<p>Liesel, are you sure there aren’t any dorms with shared bathrooms? Maybe among 5 or so people? It’s kind of a concern for me.</p>

<p>The only place you’ll find smaller sharing situations is the apartments. But then you have to clean the bathroom yourself. 
Kresge is all apartments, and it’s the only apartments open to freshmen. </p>
<p>The 25-30 people on my floor shared that arrangement of 3 showers/toilets/sinks my freshmen year. It wasn’t a problem at all! There was never a hold up in the morning or anything, because people woke up at such various times.</p>
<p>If privacy is your concern, I know some dorms have a slightly different arrangement on the first floor. They have a larger shower with a door (for handicapped purposes), that offers a bit more privacy than the normal showers which have a shower curtain.</p>

<p>dude no wayy! im from san diego too and i visited ucsc today and im positive im attending there as a business major this fall, and im also choosing between stevenson and cowell kuz after reading the other threads it seems like those are the more normal, fun ones, fitting us sd people. I’m soo excited and im obsessed with the campus <3</p>
<p>im starting the process of acceptance and i put stevenson as my 1st preference. gahhhhh im excited! i cant wait to start my drive up there tomorrow although i probably wont get to actually visit the campus til Wednesday. yayayaya !!!</p>
