Visiting the campus and Ann Arbor

LOL. The Bakehouse at airport drive is actually where everything got baked and is fresher. They do sell sandwiches at the bake shop there but it is not meant to be like the deli. Just like you can also order a sandwich at the Zingermans’ Roadhouse on Jackson Road, but that is also different as it is a restaurant. The Airport Plaza location is actually like the headquarter of Zingermans and you can the separated stores for Coffee, Creamery, Bakeshop, cake shop, ZingTrain (classes), etc.

Ah… I am thinking of the Roadhouse. Don’t go there.

They hang out in places where parents and high school kids would not really be welcome. Are you going to a frat party together? If you’re going to venture outside the tour, you need to respect that others don’t want to be bothered. Tour groups are kind of in the way as is

I lived in Michigan for a very long time, and I have been to Ann Arbor many times throughout my childhood growing up. One of the best places for breakfast in my opinion is The Broken Egg, I suggest you try it!

Angelos at Glen & Catherine is the campus breakfast place and close to the Hill dorms. There are places with better food but not history. There are not too many places to eat near North Campus, but they are all along Plymouth Rd and are mostly chains (Panera, etc) and a few local ones (Umi sushi)

@steellord123 all of the students were once prospective students. they’ve no right to say such silly things. ps: no one is going to a frat party…right OP?

I’ve been asked a few questions from prospective students when they are on campus. I don’t mind at all. Not everyone thinks the same way as steellord123.

Just curious-- does anyone know any way of visiting for Campus Day sans parents? I’m from California, and my parents would be unable to accompany me the weekend for visiting Californian students. I know the school doesn’t have any prospective student housing programs set up, and I don’t know anyone at the school that would let me crash with them. I’m not expecting any good solution to this, just putting it out there just in case.

@jazzer98 This might be worth a try - Join the class of 2019 facebook page and ask on there if anyone might be willing to put you up for the night or has a suggestion. Also, try calling the Michigan league they might be more lenient on rooms as it’s not a chain hotel.

The Ross school has an executive residence for its executive programs. I would guess that this would NOT be free, but it might be capacity that you were not aware of if the town is relatively full. If you are able to pay, you might be able to get a room there.

A few suggestions:

  1. Post on your FB page that you are looking for a student host. Maybe a friend of a friend of a friend will come through for you.
  2. Check out Airbnb.

Jumping on this thread as we’re visiting later this week - I’m a runner and would like to get a run in during our two days there - is Gallup Park Pathway safe during the day? Would probably park by the Canoe Livery and run about 4-5 miles.

P.S., Yes I know it’s cold. It’s cold here too (12) and we did 6 yesterday. LOL

Thanks!

You can go virtually anywhere in Ann Arbor and be reasonably safe; especially during daylight hours .

@steellord123 What an odd thing for you to say.

@Mom1997Kid , I would also try running in the arb, which connects to gallup park along the path to the athletic fields on fuller rd.

Visit the Hill Auditorium on North University, if there is an event during your stay. Here’s the event calendar - http://www.music.umich.edu/performances_events/event_display.php?f=m

@txmom16 I sent you a PM
