chuy - I did not know that! Very important info - thanks. The tour we did was about an hour and we certainly did not see all of the campus. Thank you for mentioning the golf course - I need to look that up.

Hi rockvillemom, glad to hear you were able to see all three schools and enjoyed yourselves.
Even though gas prices are awful, I think taking the time to see possible schools is so helpful.

If you and your s can get back down to Tech this fall, maybe catch a fball game even, it would be worth the drive. I love spring there, but fall is also beautiful and has a level of excitement on football weekends that you you have to see to believe. Nothing like it really.

KandKsmom, Son is a sophomore but we have yet to get to a football game(son has been to lots of the games though and went to the spring game today). Saw a game every year in Charlottesville for the 4 years older son was at UVa but individual tickets for UVa football are not hard to get (wonder why?). Husband and I really want to see a game in Blacksburg this October (Oct. 8th 1st choice or Oct. 1st). Any ideas of how to get tickets that don’t involve the high prices on stubhub? Never had problems for UVa but haven’t figured out the VT football tickets yet. We bought season tickets for UVa for the fall (7 games for $125 but we will probably only get to 3 or 4 of them). On stubhub, ONE ticket for only the one game on Oct. 8th in Blacksburg was going for minimum of $111 last time I looked.

Hi sevmom, What we have found is that if you don’t want to do the stubhub route (and I agreee the prices are ridiculous) is to pick a game that maybe isn’t against one of VT’s main rivals or maybe isn’t an ACC game and go early. You can find people outside Lane Stadium or the parking lots selling their tickets for a bit more than face value, maybe even get lucky and pay face value (son did this a couple of times freshman year). On this fall’s schedule I think your best chance would be the first game Sept. 3 vs. Appy State or even better on Sept. 17 against Arkansas State. Boston College is another one that in the last couple of years hasn’t been a huge game, but this year it is Homecoming, so that may be tough.

The other option I have used is through a site called [Virginia Tech Hokies Football: HokieHaven.com](http://www.hokiehaven.com). If you go to it and look under “message boards” there is a drop box under “more boards” that says “VT Tickets Board”. People advertise for tickets there, but I don’t know if you have to be a paying subscriber to the site to be able to access the posts- I don’t think you do, but you can check.

Hope this helps some and that you can go sometime. It really is fun and exciting. I am hooked now that we have gone to a few games. I know all the chants, shake my keys on “key plays” and do all of the Hokie traditional stuff! I totally embarrass my family! Good luck!

KandKsmom, Thanks so much for all the info! I really appreciate it. I’ve seen people outside the games at UVa selling tickets but I’ve always been concerned that that is legal and that the tickets are legit(but I probably am more paranoid about that kind of thing than I need to be). Good idea about the September games being cheaper. We have been focusing more on October because we will have just seen our son in late August and thought October would break up things better between August and when he comes home for Thanksgiving. We are 5 hours away from campus so can’t get there as easily as we could to UVa. But if we have a better shot at tickets in September, we may have to rethink that. Thanks again for the info! Do you jump up and down when they do Enter Sandman? That looks like lots of fun!

I’ve bought tickets from scampers for many events at many venues and never gotten scammed. It’s pretty much as safe as getting them any other way.
