My dd applied to two schools -- Cornish College of the Arts (Seattle) and University of the Arts (Philadelphia). She liked the interdisciplinary fine arts approach with visual, performing, graphic and dramatic arts all together. Now she has to choose between the two. She will be a vocal jazz performance major. Anyone have opinions about either school for us to consider?

Thank you.

We live in Seattle and Cornish has a pretty good reputation here for jazz as well as visual arts, etc. The vocal jazz teachers don't perform around town much so can't comment on them first hand. My D is into vocal jazz also (won't consider staying here for college tho!) and she has taken classes with other teachers in Seattle. There are several nice jazz clubs in town that encourage young vocalists. Cornish is a city school with alot of commuters and not so much campus though. I don't think there are dorms at all. Can be pricey to get an apartment near school. Check this out -- social situation could be a factor.
