Volunteer vs. work

PSedrishMD,

I'm working a part-time job and taking 16 credits this semester in an effort to pay for some of my tuition and my other bills (car, insurance, etc.). On top of my school and work commitments, I spend almost every waking hour doing work for school to maintain my GPA. I do some volunteer work through my church serving food at the local City Mission. I would absolutely love to do more volunteer work but I'm just not sure where to fit it in. Does the fact that I'm working my way through college with no help from my parents weigh in at all with my lack of time for volunteer work? I would love nothing more than to be able to spend as many hours as I do working, helping people. Whether it be serving food at a shelter or helping out as a transporter at the local hospital. My dad is a Pathologist and he has offered to speak with some of the docs he works with to try to get me some more hands-on patient interaction type volunteer work. The reality is that other than the summers, I really have almost no time for volunteer work. What should I do?
