Volunteer work for Medical School

I am considering pursing med school. I'm a little late in the game, as I'm going into my third year of college. For the past few weeks I've been doing a lot of research on things I will look great to med schools when I'm ready to apply. Also, the experience would be a great way to go out and do something positive with my life. Of the following, what do you guys think would look great for Med schools. Also, any other advice would be much appreciated. By the way, I am currently volunteering once a week at a hospital.
1) Volunteer at another hospital
2) Volunteer with UNICEF
3) Volunteer with Make-a-Wish Foundation
4) Volunteer at a Ronald McDonald House
5) Volunteer with Red Cross
6) Volunteering at a Boys and Girls Club
7) Medical Brigades
8) Study Abroad

Should all my volunteer work be medical based? Or can I branch out and do volunteer work in the community, for fundraisers, with children etc?
Also, are there any internships that I should look into? Anything else I should consider?

Choose the activity that means the most to you personally and best reflects your interests/values.

Med school adcomms expect both medical and non medical volunteering in applicants.

There are no specific internships for pre meds, unless you come from a SES disadvantaged background.

You might consider (depending on your major, interests and experience) applying for summer REUs or other competitive summer research programs.

REU = Research Experience for Undergraduates

You should also looking into doing some physician shadowing.

A good rule of thumb for picking anything with regard to pre-med is that the reason for doing it should never have to be “for medical school” or "looks good on an application"
