Hello,
I'm currently in high school and I want to volunteer at a hospital or a senior center over the summer. I know I will enjoy volunteering at both places - so which one do colleges look "better upon"?

Thank you!

Hello,

Imho volunteering is volunteering, so it will be viewed upon equally regardless of exactly where you intend to be involved in community service. However, if you intend to be pre-med then it would probably be better to go with the hospital. Although even that wouldn’t make much a difference, and is simply a general guideline. I myself am a prospective pre-med that spent ~600 hours volunteering at a senior nursing home and never volunteered at a hospital.

Honestly, just choose the one that you are most comfortable with or would personally be an ideal match for your skills. Ask them what activities or responsibilities you’d be involved in each institution and decide from there. Maybe they offer different opportunities or flexibility in their volunteer hours or with other staff/volunteers? Figure out what is the best fit for you, and make sure to be consistent over the long-term. Good luck!

I think you have a mentality problem. You should find out in which area you have more passion to volunteer instead of what would look better for college application.
