So right now I’m a 10th grader. I want to start volunteering at the humane society, plus get a job. I was wondering if colleges would be okay with me volunteering rather than joining a club so I don’t have so much on my plate, I know colleges want extracurriculars. I want my chances to get into a university to not be deterred if I don’t join a club. Opinions?
You should spend your time in ways that are meaningful to you. Colleges know that you have to make choices, and working or volunteering are two great options.
Yep! don’t try to game the system. They want to see who you are and what your passions are. It’s okay if you don’t do everything. Depth is often better than breadth.
