The majority of HS students' political views are just reflections of their parents'.

^ I'm not sure about that. For younger kids, yes, but I think once you get to high school, more of your political ideologies are based on friends and teachers. Just my opinion though.

lol, all right I am going to take you guys' advice and lay back for a while. But in 2012 when condi runs for president i don't know what is gonna happen.

"And I never said non-whites or women shouldn't run for president. I said that people shouldn't vote based on these qualities."

It's a stupid reason to choose who to vote for, but we can't control why people vote how they do, we can just hope the majority of people aren't complete idiots.

"we have a war, international threats and a stock market crisis! shouldn't people be looking at the issues rather than the image?"

Uh, the reason Obama has surged ahead in the last couple weeks is the economy. Most people don't think that the market was regulated enough. As a democrat, Obama has generally been in favor of increased regulation, and as a Republican McCain has almost always opposed it. That difference will probably decide the election, and it is definitely a real issue.

Heh, I remember back in my model congress club I was the only republican for two years out of about thirty people. My senior year we finally got another one, but he was this crazy religious one that just made me groan every time he'd try to debate something. :(

People also had a really hard time grasping that I'm a republican yet still support gay marriage, stem cell research, and all of those annoying civil rights issues.

Best thing you can do is probably just start shouting RON PAUL '08. You'll be left alone then.

In any case, young voters aren't learning about the candidates and the issues. Thus they are voting blindly.

Wow, way to make a general statement that is completely false. People of our generation are very politically active, and are generally very informed on the issues. If you want people who are uninformed, look at the generation above us, many of whom are much more apathetic than we are, or the elderly generation, many of whom won't vote for Obama simply because he's black, without even looking at issues.
