FYI Toledo is right, in regards to Ohio primaries you can request either party ballot at voting now. I don’t think it was always that way, maybe way back before things started becoming computerized. But a news article I read said that when you request a party ballot in the primary, you will be listed as a member of that party then.

I’m not in Ohio, but I’ve never voted in a primary. There is really no reason for any entity to tie me to a political party as I’ve not voted straight party tickets before.
Strange.
Where I live, if you don’t vote in the Primary you’ll have no real voice in local elections. Winners of the Primary often run unopposed locally, though a Primary can have 4-5 candidates if there’s no incumbent.
Because you side with Party A in a Primary doesn’t affect at all who you can vote for in Nov. You’re not bound to anything or anyone. I don’t think I’ve ever voted a straight ticket when Nov rolls around.
I think that’s true in every state.
