I'm currently accepted to Vanderbilt and am very happy with how I would fit in socially.
However, I am concerned with how Vanderbilt compares to some of the other schools I've been accepted to academically, specifically how successful students are after graduation and in which areas are Vanderbilt students most successful.

So: How does Vandy students compete after leaving Vandy?

Read some of the previous issues of the alumni magazine at this link to see how VU grads are changing the world (current issue doesn’t have as many alum stories).

But can’t these be viewed as exceptions rather than the rule? There are plenty of stories like these from every school in the country. I’ve searched for numbers, but have failed to find them. And I have failed to find any opinions comparing it to other schools on College Confidential.

These stories can show you the kind of doors that a Vanderbilt degree can open for you. Every person defines success differently and every grad will make different choices after they complete their studies. I don’t think you can predict graduate outcomes, but you can see some of the opportunities that grads have created by looking at these types of sources. Just my opinion…

I see your point and I do think that those stories are useful.
I guess what I’m really wanting to know that might be easier to answer would be, what are Vanderbilt’s strengths outside of nursing and education?

Wow, that’s great, dtotheustin09! I’m probably attending Vanderbilt and majoring in Chemical Engineering next year. I am visiting Vanderbilt again for the engineering open house and while I will ask questions and learn more first hand from the students and professors there, how did you feel the chemical engineering education at Vanderbilt was?
