I am deciding between Washington and Lee and University of Richmond. Both are excellent schools, and gave me generous financial aid.
Any insights and suggestions?

big city v small town

which do you prefer?

I graduated from the university of Richmond in 2000 and it was the best decision I’ve made. I am currently working in DC thanks to the help of an alumnus of Richmond who gave me this job. Richmond is in the perfect position–it is large enough so that you can always find something fun to do, but small enough so that you have the perfect student-teacher rapport that every prospective college student yearns for. Richmond was a wonderful experience for me, and I hope you make the right decision and choose Richmond. Go Spiders!

I was faced with the same dilemma ycypuppy, and I ended up choosing W&L. I never regretted it for a second. W&L has better academics than richmond and the social scene is so much fun. Of course you will not be near any cities as large as richmond but I didnt find that as a huge problem. And to top it off, I had a friend who went to richmond and transferred to W&L and he said it was the smartest thing he ever did! I urge you to go to W&L!!

The only downsides to choosing W&L would be if you really dont like small towns or if you have to go to a school with D1 athletics.

Better academics, better social life, better reputation, better alumni network.
