W&M as a Monroe Scholar or UR as a Richmond Scholar

I was admitted to both with the aforementioned scholarships, and I'm a bit torn where to attend next year, along with Williams College and Middlebury College. I've pretty much ruled those two out because I really don't think I could handle the cold. I wouldn't consider myself very liberal, more socialist than anything. I also like the small feel that UR offers with less than 3K undergrads. I got about the same amount of money from each school, so that can't aid in my decision. I don't necessarily know what I want to major in as undergrad but I am absolutely certain I want to go to law school and study Environmental Law. I want a school with a good amount of school spirit and hopefully some sort of night life. So, UR or W&M?

If you want night life (assuming you want off-campus options as well as on-campus), then it’s a no-brainer. Have you been to Williamsburg? Their nightlife consists of ghost tours in Colonial Williamsburg…

As far as schools go, you can’t go wrong with either, but they are two VERY different schools from a cultural perspective.

Why wait for law school to start studying environmental law? UR allows undergrads to take courses in the law school (several of my friends did), and law profs often teach undergrad courses, including first year seminars. I don’t think the same can be said for W&M (or anywhere else, for that matter.) UR’s law school has a strong program in environmental law ([Environmental Law Curriculum - School of Law - University of Richmond](http://law.richmond.edu/academics/curriculum/acp-environmental.html)) that I’m sure you could tap into. Also, UR’s law school placement is extremely strong ([Law School Placements - Pre-Law - University of Richmond School of Arts & Sciences](Law School Acceptances - Pre-Law - University of Richmond School of Arts & Sciences)). I have friends who are getting their JDs at Harvard, UVA, and Georgetown right now.
