It’s hard to give any student the odds of needing to find off-campus housing as availability of on-campus housing is subject to the whim of our students (in that it depends on how many students actively elect to live off campus in a given year). In the coming years the addition of Tribe Square and the new fraternity village will add additional on-campus housing spaces to our upperclassmen lottery process which should help the situation a bit. 75-78% of students live on campus all four years and many who initially find themselves bumped or waitlisted in the lottery are re-instated but we can guarantee housing only 3 years. Students can also apply for special interest housing (language houses, Greek living, etc.) which removes them from the lottery process and helps to ensure housing.

You can always contact Res Life for any actual statistics on how many students who are initially bumped get reinstated in a given year.

Finding off-campus housing while stressful is doable. There are websites to assist and Res Life is also a resource.
