As a matter of fact, I do know a person who emailed every single day and got in off the waitlist. This was not my son, but a friend’s a couple years ago. He emailed the generic admissions email address, not the admissions counselor. I hesitated to reveal this to spare the university all those emails, but there it is.

And heavens no, I was not suggesting a bribe!! I just meant if you are planning to pay the full fare. I remember last year someone posting that they got a generous financial aid package after being admitted off the waitlist. I just meant you’re not in a good position to bargain once you say you’ll come no matter what.

So I got the email to redo the confirmation of waitlist acceptance and I filled out the waitlist form but I didn’t receive an email confirming that I did so like the first time… Did anyone else receive an email confirming the waitlist update this time around?

Based on posts from last year, people started hearing on the 3rd!! It may take a little longer this year since the 3rd is a saturday, but some of us will be getting some very good news soon. Good luck everyone!

Everyone should start posting like crazy when they find out so the rest of us have a heads up, but I feel like it won’t happen until at least monday. They still have to figure out the numbers and holistically re-review everyone for the spots available and such like that.

How does that work? Are we each matched to a spot, like our hooks match the hooks of someone that turned them down, or are we judged based solely on merit and school/major? How do we holistically have a chance to be accepted?

Why did I think that the third was a Saturday? I need to go to sleep earlier. But like most of you I think it probably won’t be until next week.

Jimeny - it’s pretty unclear how they actually decide. The lists are split of by school (A&S, Peabody, Engineering, Blair), but besides that they don’t tell us much. I think they take the strongest applicants from the wait list (they’ve probably already determined who this is) and then factor in interest and any new information you give them.

They leave you a message, and probably will try again later. You also get an email a day or so later and the package in the mail a day or so after that. They make sure you know.

guys, i am still so nervous. i really want to get off the vandy waitlist because vandy is my dream school. post as soon as you get off the waitlist which will be exciting and disappointing if i dont get a call. I am nervous, but I assume they will start calling people tomorrow.
