I was recently wait listed at UCSB, however days after finding out the news I received an email from UCSB with my unofficial financial aid letter. It stated FAFSA was offering to give around 9K and UCSB was offering to give around 18K. Did any other wait list applicants receive this kind of letter? Aaaand what does this mean?
FAFSA doesn’t offer anything. FAFSA is a form. The federal gov’t and California gov’t offer aid. I don’t know if the UC’s regularly send out FA offers to waitlisted students. I’ll leave that for others to comment on.
Email admissions at UCSB, and ask them.
Not it is not common. But errors happen every year. I have compiled a huge list of them and they happen a lot at UC.
Hi- just saw your post - My daughter
also received a “Unofficial” Financial Aid offer and she is on the wait list also- seems strange to me.
There were even admission notice by mistake every few years.
hey sorry if this is late, but I believe that even the people on the waitlist have the right to financial aid. so the unofficial financial aid is what will be awarded to you if you get into UCSB
