Hi. I just saw that I got admitted to UC Santa Barbara and on the left side of my application status page, there is this ">Unoffical Award Letter" that's really bugging me. I clicked on it and it just lead me to the Financial Aid office. I know that there is no way I am eligible because I am an international student, with no social security number and couldn't submit FAFSA. So I scrolled all the way down and clicked on Scholarships, and nothing. It says scholarships were already given out on the week of 14th of February.

I am a bit disapointed...because when I saw the unofficial award letter, I thought I was gonna get some kinda grant. But I clicked on every single thing and just can't find the secret of this unofficial award letter. Geeeez it's REALLY bugging me! It's 1am for me right now... -.-

ANYONE else who got that?? Tell me the secret! ;D

I have that link on my page too and I’m an international. I think the link is there for everyone and those who filled up FAFSA can check their status while those who don’t qualify won’t have any info there.

I have that link, when I click it it leads me to my FAFSA, however, there’s no info on how much money I’m getting on there…

“Each applicant who filled out the federal FAFSA application for student aid and indicated UCSB as a college of choice may view an unofficial financial aid award letter from UCSB. The letter will be available in early April and will provide a preliminary estimate of your eligibility. To access your Unofficial Award Letter, log in to Admitted Students from the Office of Admissions website (www.admissions.ucsb.edu) and click on the “Unofficial Award Letter” link on the left side-bar.”

That’s in the “Steps to Enrollment” tab; click “More Information” next to the “Review your options for Financial Aid” bullet point. I guess we’ll have to wait a couple of weeks to know for sure.

@heybeautiful
yeeah i think so too… so nothing for people who didn’t file FAFSA…

@Atticlights
are you also a international? Coz internationals are not eligible for finanicial aid which is probably why there is nothing there.

@alexcoconuts
thank you!! that explains things!

No I’m a Californian, I was worried that I didn’t see any preliminary FinAid awards but I guess they’re coming in early April so I’ll wait till then!
