Anyone else wait listed? What does this even mean?

My understanding of wait listed is that the school wants to wait and see who within the accepted students pool actually enrolls and then they will look at numbers, etc. and possibly offer some people on the wait list the chance to enroll. Which means you won’t hear anything till after May 1st so it might be a good idea to make alternate arrangements

I’m sure others have a better understanding of the situation.

Same thing happened to my friend. You have to wait until may for the final descion or you could go to a branch for 2 years.

yah i got waitlisted as well and it means you could still be accepted if people choose not to go, and we wont hear back until late may so you still have to commit to another school. make sure you choose the option to be put on the waitlist in the portal though if you want to get on the waitlist. hahah i think i am going to umass amherst so if anyone else is going there feel free to facebook me! brianna mcquaid

Good luck Brianna! Thanks for the company while we waited. I will likely choose URI or Western New England.

no problem hahaha it was good to have someone to wait with! and ill let you know if i end up going to URI, it’s still one of my top choices.

as a URI alum i think it is an excellent choice:)

As far as being wait listed… MY D hasnt heard yet, but i heard that you should contact the university soon to let them know you are still interested in attending, and ask what % of waitlisted students get in?

Thanks momh and good luck to your D.

wait how do u get waitlisted? does it actually say? cuz i didnt get into storrs

Yes, it says waitlisted…then it makes you choose whether you accept it or withdraw application.

You guys r lucky for getting waitlisted

Awww…sorry Gemini. It doesn’t feel lucky. I had my heart set on UCONN and the wait list is so weird and complicated. I will have to commit to another school and start paying fees before I even have a chance to hear back for the waitlist.

Does anyone understand the Waitlist process? Some schools gradually let students in as they receive rejections from others. Does UCONN do this as well or do they actually wait for the end of May? It would seem advantageous to do this as the waitlist students have an opportunity to accept and get housing and orientations in. It seems if they wait until late May it puts the administration and students in a bit of a rush for forms, financial aid etc.

Acceptances roll through for months afterwards AFAIK. I actually had a friend who was going to attend a regional campus and was called up in August and told she could come to Storrs. She find housing, not the best, but I’m pretty sure she’s been okay.

Also, don’t expect much courtesy from the administration. I guess you have to cut them some slack for handling 20,000+ students all told, but it can get quite frustrating at times. The only important part of orientation is registering for classes, though, and housing is a mess for freshman anyways, so I would worry about it.
