My daughter got in, we received the decision yesterday. She applied to Accelerated program, but got in only to Premed undergrad school.
Anyone know when international kids will start hearing back?
Is there any true waitilst for UP or will you automatically be accepted into a commonwealth campus? Could you be waitlisted for UP?
My D was accepted 2+2 Altoona last night for Psychology. 3.34 GPA. ACT 25. Many AP classes, extracurriculars, Varsity soccer. Out of state in CA. Legacy, too (my husband). Does anyone know if it’s worth it to call admissions and ask to be reconsidered for DUS summer start? We did check off summer start on her application. Thanks!
I’ve seen the same question from you 5 different times on two different threads. Please give someone time to answer before you bombard the threads.
EA Decisions are received by Dec 24. Priority decisions are by Jan 31. That’s all anyone can tell you. The decisions are not released by college anyway…
Liberal Arts has actually a bit less competitive than DUS in the past couple of years. So if you put liberal arts and summer, then that is likely the most competitive application you could have put in. So, if you got Altoona, that is going to be the best offer you get. You can always try, but I don’t think the decision will change. A 3.3.4 GPA is GENERALLY a Commonwealth Campus admit. That being said, Altoona is a great campus and a 4-year college in its own right, but nothing like the main campus, so do your due diligence before traveling across the state for it. My son absolutely loved Altoona, and if the end goal is to be at UP campus after 2 years then it may be worth it. But many OOS students was UP campus or nothing because of the cost of attendance.
Just to give people with lower stats hope! I am thrilled to have gotten into Penn state! Sorry to people who didn’t get in and congrats to those who did! Just know you end up where your supposed to be so have faith because everything happens for a reason and you will do great wherever you go!
GPA: 89 UW 92 W
Rigor: Full IB Student
SAT: 1190
Extracurriculars: Sports and job
Major: Psychology
Campus: University Park
Term: Fall 2020
@PSUcutie I have no idea. It should not be a problem if no one else you know has heard back. I have no idea to be honest. You could ask Penn State admissions but they would probably say by December 24th
I’m also international but I haven’t heard back. I applied in November 15
@astudent223 : I wouldn’t attend Brandywine from OOS, unless you live right accross the border. If you’re interested in 2+2, see if you can switch to Liberal Arts at Allentown or Harrisburg.
The portal finally changed!
Our son was accepted!
ACT: 29
GPA: 3.5w
Mostly honors classes with a few APs
EC: Varsity lacrosse, Club Basketball, has worked 22 hours per week all through high school
OOS, College of Agriculture, UP
Thankfully the wait is over for us. Posted UP acceptance on the decision only thread just now. Two kids down, one more to go. Be back here doing the OPC madness in three more years.
Just got accepted over night. They offered me summer at university park and now I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it. Also giving hope to those with lower stats as I had lower SAT scores and about a 3.4 GPA
My son got in UP DUS with summer session… Good luck to all!
Accepted at 12 midnight update. UP, liberal arts undecided. OOS, 3.5, 1480 sat. OK ec’s.
We Are! Good luck to all.
My triplet daughters got accepted today to UP fall! They all had a GPA of 4.0+ and in the 1200s SATs. Their majors are Biology, Psychology and DUS. Congratulations to those who have been accepted and good luck to all who are waiting. I know it stinks.
Wonderful news and a huge relief I’m sure! congratulations!
@avebowl , most feedback is that it’s a very positive experience and really helps set a student up for success. Students in summer leap start the fall semester off feeling far less stressed because they already have a social circle, know their way around campus, knocked off six credits (less pressure to take a big course load), and most likely are starting with a nice GPA. They benefit from having the confidence of being an experienced student, which is huge when you consider the environment of going to a 40k+ student campus. Best decision my daughter ever made and I’m making all of my kids do it.
@MYOS1634 I live about an hour and half from the Brandywine campus, but I more than likely will not be accepting my offer from PSU. Thank you for the info though!?
Am I the only person whose portal is down? I keep getting an error.
