Waiting for Decisions - Penn State Class of 2024

anyone know if there’s a group chat with all of the class of ‘24 applicants

Will they email once they put out a decision or is it on us to constantly check the portal?

You must constantly check… well, once a day or twice a week! :slight_smile:

@rickqwert , you’ll discover a lot of prospective students and parents suffering OPC syndrome as the fall and winter months go on. OPC = obsessive portal checking. My daughter used to check 4 to 5 times day from August to Late Jan. Would be nice if they sent an email. That would be a lot less stressful. It would be awesome if PSU tracked portal logs in and counted them as some level of interest that would benefit us…but nope!

Just saw on the PSU decisions thread that someone else was admitted EA to UP (and had only applied three days ago). High stats.

But what I have noticed is that this is yet another Engineering student.

So far I have not heard of anyone outside of Engineering who has heard an admissions decision from UP.

Soooo we wait! :slight_smile:

How can we get to the PSU decisions thread?

Good luck everyone! My DS heard back last year mid-November for DUS.

Hi everyone, I placed the decision thread in the featured section at the top of the threads so you can locate it easily every time you visit the threads.

A few decisions have been posted, but you will notice they are very high stats. Keep in mind that those who hear early USUALLY have very high stats, but not EVERY APPLICATION with high stats will hear early! We hear this a lot around here where people are stressed because they have high stats and didn’t hear but someone else with high stats already heard. Just remember that it is pretty random. Trying to figure out rhyme or reason will probably make you nuts. Many moons ago, it did just that to me. And every year there are others who obsess trying to figure out what’s happening. There will always be outliers. On this board, most advice is based on history, but they aren’t set in stone. Good luck everyone! The decision season is just about here!

Saw another student on a different forum who was accepted to UP, apparently last week. Once again, this was for the School of Engineering.

Anyone hear of people in their area accepted to UP yet? Saw another FB friend post but I suspect this was for a Commonwealth campus as the person already had the actual mailing (We Are) in hand.

I saw one accepted to UP for the college of arts and architecture for music education.

I submitted my app on October 30th for early action and heard back yesterday for an acceptance to Eberly!

@PurpleLlama066 ,
Congratulations! Thanks for sharing. This was for University Park? By any chance would you fall into the category of very high stats for PSU? I’m wondering if they are sending out admits for the extra high achievers or if they are starting to roll out a range of admissions decisions. Thank you!

@OceanIsle ,

1500 SAT, 3.99 unweighted GPA, 13 AP classes (including senior year), decent ECs

@PurpleLlama066 , Excellent job. Thanks for sharing and Congratulations again!

For those who have watched PSU Admissions in recent years, did you see kids with average (for PSU) stats be part of early notification waves?

So far I’ve only seen Engineering or 1500+ range SAT/36 ACT kids being admitted to UP.

So if we are not checking the portal, how will my D find out if/when she is admitted to PSU? Thanks in advance…

From @bgbird2020

Bottom line: If you want your answer weeks ahead of an email or snail mail, you need to check your portal.

C’mon, Penn State! Does only the School of Engineering process early apps? :blush:

Yay! An acceptance to Smeal (UP) has been reported on the Decisions thread. Nice stats but not 36/1500+ Engineering like all the others seem to have been. Actuarial Science.

Anyone else hearing of acceptances at their high schools?
