Does anyone know if Penn State releases their decisions only at midnight?
@Mlo625 , great question. If so, that would save us a lot of portal checking.
@Oceanisle @Mlo625 We can only share what has happened historically…
In the past, updates occurred at midnight until the week before the deadlines - then they were happening multiple times per day. That is my best recollection - go back and check the decisions thread from last year and that could be a good guide.
Also, I am surprised that they have started releasing UP admittances now. It seems to be isolated to Engineering/High stats kids, but - again, in the past - these typically came the week before Thanksgiving. I remember being at football games (the week before Thanksgiving) for the last 10-15 years and seeing someone who would come running up to tell us they got in!
With what I know and can surmise, I think they were overwhelmed last year, so maybe they are trying to get ahead of the curve? It should be easy to admit the high stats kids, so I think it is good they are making those decisions.
Regardless, we are a week or two away from - hopefully! - a bunch of them rolling out. (I know my D20 is anxiously awaiting an answer!)
This year, they knew what to expect and had enough staff to process applications. Admitting kids with top 1% stats is a no brainer and an easy order to give workers at the beginning of the process: " if you see a 3.8 uw&1480+ SAT, admit automatically".
I have two DDs applying with high stats (Above 1500 SAT) to engineering and as of the last time they checked (last night) still no decision. So, not all high stat, Engineer majors have been accepted yet.
Thanks for posting this. Likewise waiting for DS since the beginning of September here and was fine with it until his friend applied for the 2+2 in Mechanical and got a decision in 3 days! Also have twins and DD is waiting for her dream school for DPT with one acceptance for #2. The agony!
My son’s friend was accepted to UP today. Numerous AP/Honors, high rank, at least 3.8 uw GPA, athlete, good EC, possible legacy.
We don’t know his exact stats but my son has guessed 1450-1480 SAT range. Not sure of major.
If anyone else hears anecdotal acceptances we love to hear them. It helps keep the energy and hope going for this long haul.
@sandywerks , the 2+2 get released fast. UP is different. Good luck!
DS was admitted yesterday. Checked portal after he heard someone at school got in. I have no idea what he put down as his major and I do not check his portals so this is all I know. We are in state.
Congratulations, @bamamom2021 ! Is your DS one of the 1500+ SAT kids if you don’t mind sharing?
Did anyone who has been accepted already apply rolling admission instead of early action? The common app gave both options and my DD was told that a decision would be quicker if she did rolling, but when you look on the portal it doesn’t say anything about her application being rolling, but does say that her application is not EA. I’m beginning to think she made the wrong selection.
@somekidsmom hi EA are the applications that are viewed first. If your child’s application was submitted on/ or before Nov1 I would have your child call admissions and state that he/she chose rolling in error and if possible can they switch to EA (it would be helpful if they knew that all there documentation was submitted prior to the deadline)It’s a long shot, but it doesn’t hurt to try.
Now to be truthful it may not have any direct effect on acceptance- but it does give your student the best possible chance especially if applying to selective programs.
OOS son was accepted, rec’d packet in the mail this past Saturday. Main Campus - College of Sciences (Math major) - 32 ACT. Good luck to all !!!
Curious to know if student used common app or Penn State App? Also when application was accepted and if they have been given a decision yet?
Hi all

This was a mid August application using the penn state app instead of common app
Hello,
Any idea what stats are needed for Eberly college of science (SAT, GPA, etc)?
I’m not sure what stats are needed but Eberly has started accepting students. My friend’s son was accepted into the college last week.
Thanks. Any idea what his stats were
I didn’t ask, but he’s a straight A student who takes AP and honors courses. I’m not sure about his SAT.
UP has started releasing decisions for College of Liberal Arts!!
Does anyone know when the College of Agricultural Sciences will start releasing decisions? I applied in early September and am still waiting!
