Waiting to hear from USC and UCLA Law

I submitted my applications to USC and UCLA Law in mid January and still haven't heard a word from these two schools! I heard from all 6 of the other schools I applied to pretty quickly. I am getting the sense that I didn't get in... What should I do? The websites say not to call but can I call anyways? Has anyone else heard from these schools?

are these your top two choices? Mid Jan?

Yeah I got a bit of a late start but my stats are good!

sent you a PM.....

I'm in the exact same boat (same with Vanderbilt).

I was an applicant who had a good shot at these schools, but not a sure one, and I applied late in the cycle. My assumption, based mostly on numbers and timing (and it's nothing but pure speculation), is that the schools are waiting to get an idea of yield before sending out final decisions. Since admitted students events have already taken place, I feel like it's kind of a "well...let's see if these guys will come, first, and then we'll let her know." I imagine it's due partially to caliber and partially to timing.

Another thing that I *hear through the grapevine/i, is that UCLA in particular had kind of strange stats for this year. According to various other law admissions sites, many of those who have been admitted to UCLA are of an unusually high caliber (relative to admitted students of recent years), while many who would normally be average among admitted students still haven't heard a decision.

Again, this is all just speculation and rumor. But I can definitely tell you that you're not in this boat alone...I've called both schools to make sure it's not a fluke (because at that point, I hadn't so much as received a notice of application receipt from either school).

Good luck :)
