Waitlist - has anybody heard?

This thread was started by an incoming freshman who was placed on the waitlist, but I THINK some of the latest posts are from transfers who were offered spots from the transfer waitlist, which is a different list of course. Congratuations to those just accepted; I am only point this out because I think there may be some confusion.

Hi all, this just came in the mail for me. I’m an international freshman applicant.

Dear ________,

Wesleyan’s Class of 2016 is nearly final but we usually have a few openings in June.

If you wish to remain on a small waitlist for the next month and you are sure you want to accept a place at Wesleyan, please write a brief letter of interest and email it to waitlist@wesleyan.edu no later than Monday, June 11. We are not looking for length or eloquence but rather a brief, sincere statement which explicitly states your interest in attending Wesleyan. A letter you sent earlier can be updated to tell us your current interest. If you have questions about taking a gap year include them.

You were positive in your response to our initial offer of a place on the waitlist; certainly you have been patient with the process. While we do not know your “chances” I can tell you we are offering this June Waitlist option to a limited number of students and we have selected you. Best wishes for the near future and thanks for your interest in Wesleyan.

Honestly, I was at work about to write my letter of interest, (my father had emailed Wesleyan for me to state my intent to accept a spot on the waitlist because I didn’t have access to internet for some reason.) and as I was writing the Dear Wesleyan Admissions Office, I got a random call from a connecticut number and my boss gave me a funny look for my phone going off… (forgot to silence it and sprinted to grab it before the second round of ‘wagon wheel’ went off) and the assoc. dean or something like that congratulated me on my acceptance off of the waitlist. (This was June 1st, which if I recall, is much earlier than they had previously said they would be releasing decisions about the waitlist.)

Thank you for all the well wishes, I know this has been a stressful process for all and finally having some good news after 3/5 rejections feels like there was some point to all this madness. Good luck to all!
