Waitlist Letter

As Penn is need blind, is it worth mentioning in the waitlist letter that I would not need any financial aid, or would that seem tacky? Thanks for the responses.

I don't think it matters.

They'd probably prefer to know how much you want to go there rather than how much you would pay to go there.

ok thanks for the replies, thats what i thought. i just had read on another thread about waitlist tips and that was one of them.

hey guys

right now i'm a freshman, and i was waitlisted last year. i think ive made this same post before, but don't get too concerned about what your letter of interest says, because, well, i didn't do anything last year of the sort.

it still wouldn't hurt to write a letter, but say you end up writing a bad one, don't get depressed or anything. i just stayed on the waitlist, and went on with my life as if i didnt have a chance of getting in. i enrolled at another school, and one day, magically, i got a phone call from an adcom.

"hi....if you were hypothetically admitted to Penn from the waitlist, would you switch enrollment from the school you're currently planning to attend?"
(without actually thinking about it) "oh......hell yes! duh id switch enrollment!"

and you know what......i did.

Just got my 3rd quarter grades, which I was planning on sending to Penn to prove that I haven't slacked off second semester senior year. EXCEPT...it turns out that I have an A- in my NEWSPAPER class, for god's sake--of all classes, newspaper is definitely not the one I expected an A- in. The other 5 grades were all As. This would definitely not be a problem if it weren't for the fact that I have a 4.000 cumulative, unweighted GPA, so you could see it as I HAVE slipped a little, even though quarter grades don't count and I'll definitely pull it up by the end of the semester.

Do you think I should still send my 3rd quarter grade report to Penn? I still love Penn and would go there if admitted! I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Please, no one is going to give a damn about an A-

yeah calm the frig down. having an A- will not kill you. The grades I sent were: B+ (english), A- (econ), B (bio), A (calc), B+ (history). I still got in.
