What do you think the chances are for waitlist movement with Scripps? Did they end up taking many people off their's last year and how many applicants did they get this year in comparison to previous?

I have the same questions as you! From what i’ve checked in previous threads, only a few get off, but I don’t know the stats either. Sorry for not being able to give any real answers, I was wondering too.

Also, were you placed on their “alternate” list? I’m assuming this is the same thing as waitlisted, just different wording.

I don’t know whether or not they keep statistics on how many women they pull off the waitlist, but I know that it can change dramatically every year depending on yield. Scripps is looking for a very specific number of women this year to make sure they don’t exacerbate a housing crunch on campus. If they decided to low-ball acceptances to ensure not going over, you may still have a chance. If you’re still interested in Scripps, make sure to send in the official waitlist response form to tell them you would like to be on the waitlist (keeping in mind that you will probably not hear back until after the deposit deadline, and will therefore have to send a deposit to another school). Beyond that, you need to give them something else to consider in your file-- this may be a letter, that updates the school on any accomplishments since you last submitted information, and informs the admissions officers of your continued interest in the school.

Thanks Eternal!

Yeah, I was put on the alternative list as well. I’m guessing that is what they’re calling their waitlist, though I could be wrong here.

I guess all we can really do for now is submit any significant letters or extra information that would help us show Scripps how much we would like to attend.

I wonder how many students are put in the waiting list this year.
